We were in town for the Elton John concert at the stadium next door as were many other people in this hotel. The downtown area, including the street immediately in front of the hotel is a complete mess with major construction and the installation of the light rail system. It’s a very easy five minute walk to the stadium where we saw the show. Unlike other comments, I only saw one homeless person in the area. A couple of issues that I had with the property were after the first night, we were out the following day, and I checked my email to find that I had been checked out of the hotel. This gave me a jolt of panic as I knew the property was sold out due to the Elton John concert . I immediately called the property front desk, and I was assured that I was still checked in even though I had received an email with my bill showing that I had left and paid. I was told that they have an old billing system and that their old billing system is the MS Doss programming. I laughed and questioned how could a company like Marriott have a computer program that Hass to be 30 years old and older than every employee I saw on the entire property The other issue was that the air conditioning seem to be way more complicated than it needs to be. I don’t understand why hotel air-conditioning can’t be simple with an on/off switch and an up/down switch for the temperature. In the end, I had to call to have someone come to the room to show me how to turn down the air, which was blasting like a Freezer. The room is nice and clean and a standard Residence Inn type of property. The common area downstairs was very basic, almost to an extreme, and needs a makeover. The breakfast was good with eggs, meat, cereals, and fruit.
Would not recommend this hotel

Mostly the staff are helpful. Rooms are spacious 1120, 1119, but pretty cold in appearance. No room service, restaurant and To Go cafe closed from 10 - 4 so not able to have lunch. Room cleaning non existent over 5 days even though was requested, hence no refill of the basics ie toilet paper. The general area has a homeless problem.and has major construction work so very dusty and noisy. Overall a not at all satisfactory hotel
Unresolved Billing Issue

While the location and hotel itself are fine, the hotel is run in a completely unprofessional manner. Should you have any billing issues, beware! Make sure you are charged properly. On the last day of my stay on August 8th, 2022, the hotel's water main broke. There was no running water or aircon. Hence, I checked out early, and was assured that I would be refunded for that last day. I was not. I called a week later, and was assured they were working on it. Fast forward a month and a half, and I STILL have not been refunded. I have Ambassador status, so I have complained via that channel. Hopefully they will take care of it, since the hotel staff clearly was hoping that I would just forget. Stay away! Choose another property. The management here clearly is unscrupulous.
Great hotel near Footprint Center

We loved this hotel! We stayed here in order to attend a sporting event at the Footprint Center (which is within walking distance), and we would stay here again. The front desk staff were so friendly and helpful, and the rooms were large and clean. The breakfast was very good and had a lot of options. The only downside was the construction, which seemed to cover the entire downtown Phoenix area and made finding the hotel a little tricky. The jackhammers also started at 6:30 a.m. on a Saturday, but it didn't bother us too much.
Here it is— the Good the bad and the ugly.

The street construction is literally the worst! Walking in the lobby with giant equipment right at the front door churning up dust and very loud. Clearly the sewer pipes are exposed as the road is a giant deep trench. Construction workers everywhere and they even come in to use the lobby restroom! I walked through the dust and noise, and the sewer Smell was overwhelming. The entire lobby smelled horrible! I checked in thinking that surely the rooms would be ok. I get to my room, and as soon as I walked in i noticed the air conditioner was blowing hot air! It was 107 degrees that day. I call the front desk and said the ac was out and i needed to have another room. The desk clerk, who just 5 minutes before checked me in says, “oh a water pipe broke and it is being repaired so the ac is out until It is fixed. She could not inform me of this 5 minute s ago? I was with a large group and everyone was arriving so we sat in the downstairs bar for a drink. The smell wasn’t as bad in the bar, but we were all sweating and stripping off jackets and all. We finally decided to leave for an air conditioned place when the front desk tells us its fixed. Two and a half hours with no ac. More ac issues——- The rooms have a sensor in the thermostat which turns off the ac when you leave the room!! Its 107 out! Additionally the “motion sensor” does not detect you when you are sleeping. I woke up at 3 am sweating every night i was here. There was an old school “Proctor Silex” coffeemaker that wouldn’t make coffee. I called the desk, someone brought me another coffee maker. It wouldn’t work either . The hallways and rooms were pretty nice, Modern and clean. The energy saving stuff is a huge reason i won’t return. The bathroom counter too is non existent. You have to put on your makeup and do your hair in the bathroom sink. A positive is the restaurant on the 4th floor, Little Rituals is amazing. Great food and Great drinks and beautiful views and atmosphere! It not owned or affiliated with the hotel. So unfortunately, you are not allowed to take alcohol from there up to your room.
