After several attempts and reschedules for my wife and I to visit by ourselves, we finally made it, with our children, and yet the visit was still wonderful. A little snowy weather gave the venture a Christmasy feel to it. My children were in complete awe of the massive house which was built in the 1890’s. And as the website describes, my wife and I felt like we we embraced in a warm hug the second we walked in. The decoration is beautiful and calming. The lighting inside was suttle and warm. The view of downtown Racine from the house was perfect and not overwhelming. And as for our room, massive, comfortable and very relaxing. The beds were very comfortable, the room itself was arranged like a small studio apartment that you would see in a movie or something. Now the part that made our stay really nice was the fact that the owner Pamela (the owner of The Christmas House) was able to set up child care for a few hours for my wife and I to go out for dinner. It’s not something that she advertised and wasn’t something we asked for but we were delighted that she was willing to go the extra mile, or 10 miles in this case, to make our stay that much more enjoyable. Our children were very well taken care of and enjoyed the opportunity to have someone else to play games with. The following morning, we were served a 5 course breakfast with a bowl of fresh fruit, eggs, bacon mini potatoes, and delicious cinnamon pancakes. It really was a nice way to cap off our short visit to the B&B. If you’re looking for somewhere to go any season of the year, whether it’s just yourself, with a significant other, the whole family (extended or immediate), or looking for a beautiful place to host a work event, look no further than The Christmas House. You won’t regret it.
Stay here not the modern hotels

If you have the choice then choose the spacious comfort of this massive 10,000 sq foot 19th Century house with charming rooms and a great breakfast.
We happily accepted an upgrade to their enormous studio room. Loved it.
Walkable into main town area and very close to lake side.

Had an excellent weekend in beautiful, relaxing B&B with wonderful porch seating. Welcoming host created delicious home-cooked breakfasts & sought our input for the menu. Great location for walking to restaurants & lakefront strolls. Clean modern bathroom, spacious suite, & off-street parking.
They broke a contract that had been in place for months

We are getting married in June 2019 and we signed a contract in April 2018 with The Christmas House to have all of their rooms blocked for several days around the wedding for the use of out of town guests. We paid a $200 deposit for this privilege. We subsequently booked 2 rooms for one night and the remaining rooms were still on hold until later this month. Today they called us because they have other people wanting rooms (maybe from our wedding guests - who knows?). To cut a long story short, THEY ARE UNWILLING TO HONOR THE SIGNED CONTRACT THAT WE HAVE HAD IN PLACE FOR A YEAR. Worse than that they are blaming everything on a change in web site which now only guarantees a booking if you pay in advance. (It is interesting that they knew to call us to tell us all of this). The fact that this web site change took place long after our contract was signed is irrelevant to them. They were not apologetic but blamed everything on previous employees who are no longer with them.
We wanted to do business with local businesses as much as possible for our wedding but this place does not deserve my business at the present time. We have canceled our block reservation completely because we cannot afford another let-down of this nature so close to our wedding.

I stayed for two nights on a brief business trip. A beautiful, historic B&B with nice rooms, a great location and friendly owner! I would recommend the Christmas House for a home base to explore the area, from Chicago to Milwaukee.
