Not a bad stay
As others have pointed out, it makes me a bit uneasy to see the front desk staff needing to be behind glass as it makes me wonder what has happened here to warrant that. The room was simple and had what I needed including a nice little fridge which is always a plus however I do think they need to be updated. It is in a great location as it is close to shopping and the expressway which is a plus. Also, what I didn't like was that after house keeping had cleaned my room, the left the window wide open. Other than that there was plenty of parking and got the room at a reasonable rate which was nice.
In need of an update
I've stayed at the Dynasty Suites Redlands twice. Both times it was booked by a company I was working for, so I had no say in location. Both stays were for a little less than a week, and my experience was similar both times. I didn't have any problems with either stay, but I also wouldn't say that I enjoyed my stays. It was sufficient for me, but my wife would have hated it. It doesn't feel clean. It doesn't feel like the rooms have been updated since the 1980's. * The rooms I've stayed in were both pretty small and cramped. I've come to relate the term "suite" in hotel parlance as something with a separate kitchen. In this case, I guess it means "microwave, mini-fridge, coffee maker, and electric fireplace". I wouldn't have called this a suite. * The bed is made every other day. Bed was a little on the hard side, but relatively comfortable. Pillows were fine. The blanket was worn out with holes in places. * Towels are serviced daily. Towels are sufficient, but nothing fancy. * There's a creepy mirror in the shower, with the silver backing worn off in areas. Oh, I'm sorry--it's advertised as a "Fogless shaving mirror in the shower". Regardless, it's kind of creepy. * The tub/shower combo has both old and new plumbing fixtures. The handles are removed from the old ones to make it clear what you should use. But it clearly shows they cut corners on maintenance. * The shower had an unlabelled wall dispenser for what I assume is shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The sink has a wall dispenser for soap and lotion. * The exterior grounds are pleasant--well, for what's essentially a motor court. Ivy is growing everywhere, which I kind of like--but it's not for everybody. * There's a smoking area gazebo near the back of the property, so it's a gathering place and there are sometimes loud, late conversations that can be heard. * The rooms have a dark decor and they seem darker because I always kept the curtains closed--since the only window faced the exterior walkway and parking lot. * The closet was small in depth, but plenty wide if you don't mind reaching. There's a bench in the closet for a suitcase, but it's probably only big enough for a carry on. The closet is cedar-lined, and probably smelled fresh twenty or thirty years ago. Now it just looks dated. * There aren't any bedside electrical outlets, though there was a wall outlet a yard or two away, and outlets at the desk. * The front desk is behind a glass security window. It didn't make me feel safe and secure. * Breakfast was kind of monotonous and boring. Almost everything was the same every single day. I stopped eating breakfast there, and started going to a nearby coffee shop instead. The hotel does have a nice touchscreen Starbucks coffee machine that also makes Hot Chocolate and Chai Tea Latte. It was out of service one day, but back in service the next.
Has gone down hill recently
We used to love staying here , having stayed over 20 nights over the past two years with our daughter attending U of R. We loved that it was family owned, quiet and the beds were memory foam. Sort a small, boutique hotel. However our last two visits were very disppointing and I am wondering if it's under new management. On our recent two night stay...First night we were kept awake by rodents chewing in walls and very hard memory foam bed. So not much sleep. The desk did move to another room for night two but things actually got worst! We notice that the room had odd odor halfway through the night, like stinky tennis shoes. Questioned on how well the room was cleaned/maintained. But it got even worst still ! The room next to us decided it was a party nigth. The had a room full of laughing people ( likely quite high as smell marijuana would occasionally invade our room ) and loud rap music with a loud, strong base vibrating the walls. We called the fount desk THREE times and they assured us that they would call the room. We doubt that they did anything but it made no difference. The party continued until about 3AM ruining our plans for next day. At 7Am the whole building shoke as her was construction going on behind the building. Now even less sleep that the night before. The hotel is becoming more of a party place , than a quiet/family place to sleep. The new management (?) does not seem to care . Too bad because we now find a new go to place to stay in Redlands. Instead of nice relaxing trip, we came home exhausted having two nights with little sleep
