Overall a pleasant stay

Avaliou em 21 de setembro de 2022

We had a great holiday and overall no big issues w this hotel (we stayed for 9 nights - booked through TUI) but it wasn’t quite what we thought was portrayed on the TUI website. Staff were mostly very helpful and the hotel was definitely clean and rooms were comfortable but there were a couple of small things that just prevented it feeling like the standard I had come to expect from TUI. Carpets badly worn in corridors , no lift access on our floor , consumable items not replaced in our room once used , no ‘do not disturb’ sign provided even after asking. However , location of this hotel is great and breakfast certainly was ample. Hairdryer in room was perhaps the most ineffective I have ever seen.

Rude and unhelpful reception staff

Just returned home from Minos, and in my honest opinion the standard of this hotel has gone down hill. This was our 6th time here would of been 7 if 2020 wasn’t cancelled due to Covid. We always returned because it’s family owned and always felt like you got that personal service and nothing was too much bother but this time it was completely different, we arrived at 7pm after a long day travelling got to are room and wasn’t impressed at all very small bathroom that small the sink is on the outside and they said that this is a deluxe room ?, so we went to reception to ask for another room and the guy on reception Michalis I think his name was said there was nothing he could do now but will write it down in the book and come back in the morning and they will sort it. Went back in the morning but he had not left a note for the staff so he lied to us, the lady on reception apologised and said she would sort it out and get us a bigger room come back at 11 am next morning? We went back next morning and was told by a guy called Yanni we have a room for you but you cannot look at it yet come back in about one hour. We had arranged to go out so went out and returned in the afternoon about 2.30 and were told abruptly by Yanni that because we didn’t come back in 1 hour we have given the room to someone else and cannot do anything I said you must have other rooms but Yanni said but you didn’t come back when I told you too. So you need to come back tomorrow though the hotel was no where near full. My wife walk back to our room and Michalis sarcastically said bye 👋🏻 Like I stated nothing was never a problem on previous stays, (restaurant ) breakfast is just ok but very repetitive staff in restaurant friendly. The hotel is in a good spot 5 mins from beach and 20 mins into old town Personally I think since they opened the new Minos ambassador behind this hotel they concentrate more on that and standards have dropped in this hotel, we talked to a few people who expressed the same opinion. We will definitely NOT return which is a shame because we all ways enjoyed staying at the Minos.

Friendly hotel in a great location

We stayed in the Minos Hotel for 11 nights towards the end of July 2022 and into August. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel, the staff are very friendly the food is good and we spent many happy hours around and in the hotel pool. Furthermore the location is excellent. You are less than 5 minutes from two top rated restaurants in Rethymnon, a beach frree of parasols; a supermarket and several welcoming bars. Not only that you are halfway between the restaurants towards the East of the beach strip and the Old Town, harbour and main shopping area. We had a really good time and the hotel helped and allowed us tio do that.

Overall - Very Good

We stayed for our family Holiday, July into August 2022, having booked through TUI. Overall we were very happy with the Minos Hotel. It's a in a great location, 2 minutes walk from the beach and 20 minutes walk from the old town of Rethymno, we were quite glad not to be in the city centre With our 10 year old son with us, we'd opted for the Junior Suite, was was spacious, comfortable, with a great private patio area with a sea view that overlooked the pool. I gather that some of the lower priced rooms are too small and not well equipped, but we really didn't any complaints regarding our accommodation, other than a lack of air con or ventilation in the bathroom. The hotel itself does feel a little dated in some areas, but is spotlessly clean and tidy, with a decent pool and a great pool side restaurant. Others on here have complained about the food. It's not 5 star cuisine, but perfectly decent with a huge buffet selection for breakfast and dinner that we very much enjoyed. All of the staff were very obliging and efficient and overall the service is great. Having stayed at smaller hotels in Crete that seem more friendly, we did find some of the staff a little bit 'off'. With the notable exception of Vasily in the restaurant, who was genuinely friendly every day, high-fiving our son every morning. The evening 'entertainment' wasn't great, though probably typical. We did find it went on a little too late. Fairly loud singing at 10.30 pm when you have a 10 year old trying to sleep isn't ideal. But we got used to it. Despite a few minor points, the Minos is a great Hotel in a great location. Opt for suite and you wont be disappointed.

Pleasant Hotel

We are just back from ten days at this hotel. Overall very nice stay after an initial difficult start. We arrived on a night flight and got the hotel 2am but our room was not available so we were put into a suite for one night but couldn’t unpack and relax …day two we were transferred to a tiny room but with two adults and a 17 year old son we couldn’t get our cases in there never mind enjoy our stay!…so we complained and were informed we would be moved again …two days unable to settle or unpack not the ideal start ….however later that day the manager Constantina who is an exceptionally professional lady and very helpful , found us a suitable larger room which was more in keeping to what we had expected , so finally after two days we could unpack and enjoy the holiday !…Hotel a short walk from the sea front and around 25 minutes walk to the beautiful old town.Hotel clean and reception areas large. Rooms serviced daily with towel changes . Pool clean but probably a little small for size of hotel but wasn’t a problem . Staff overall friendly and helpful . Food choice is very good and food standard is what you would expect for hot buffet mass catering. Self service under heat lamps.Breakfast choice very good. The hotel has a sister hotel adjoining called the Minos ambassador 5 star which is connected by a bridge and where you can enjoy a spa at extra charge. Would recommend treatments whilst you are there as Elena, Stella and the team are fabulous and really help find the correct treatments. prices are comparable to uk treatment charges. If you are going as a family then the Minos hotel is really nice and adequate but if you are going as a couple I would recommend the next door Minos Ambassador for their definite five star upmarket property and beautiful peaceful rooftop pool . I would say marketing the Minos as a four star by uk customer standards would not be very accurate.I would also say that compared to some other Greek four star hotels we have stayed in that this would rate as a three star. For transport options to the town , if not walking then there is a bus stop opposite or Taxis (when available !) cost around 6 euros to the town .Beach sunbeds hire varies between 3-6 euros per day per person . Overall a nice stay made even better by the fabulous old town of Rethmyno which is within easy reach and where you will find incredible restaurants and old Venetian alleyways of shops and cafes. Would certainly go back to Rethmyno town in the future.
