From booking or rather looking into booking this hotel, David has been a delight and most helpful throughout the pandemic changes! My partner and I finally visited in April 2022 and it was well worth the wait! David was there to welcome us - we felt like we knew each other after many email exchanges over 2 years! All of the staff we encountered were friendly and efficient and knowledgeable of the hotel, including it's history and the area itself. The location is perfect and parking onsite saves any hassle with your trip. The room itself was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. So many places to visit on the doorstep, we really needed more than 2 days! On booking we received some recommendations for dinner reservations and took advantage of this local knowledge and we were not disappointed. We will definitely be back at some time in the near future and have already recommended this hotel to friends. Thanks again David and team.

The owner was not willing to follow booking company payment instructions. Requiring guests to pay when there was no need. I do not normally review business stays. The rooms were good. I will not be booking here again for any of our team or apprentices.

Overnight trip to Richmond stayed in the Frenchgate hotel lovely room lovely hotel fantastic breakfast and an excellent host David and an added bonus of having its own car park. There is also parking on the street outside the hotel will definitely be going back .

A warm welcome, excellent breakfasts, and superb bedroom facilities combined to make this a great place to stay. Everything was easy and convenient, and location perfect. Loved the heated bathroom floor in my room ! All the little touches, from lighting to toiletries, were just right. Would definitely stay here again. My son and daughter thought the scrambled eggs perfect. Owner and colleagues clear and helpful throughout.

First Class Base for Richmond Visit

An excellent hotel situated in the heart of the town. Very clean room and friendly staff. Disappointedly the restaurant is closed because they cannot hire a chef of the right standard but the cooked breakfast was super. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had room 7 that had a bath in the room. Not to our taste and would have thought a bath in the large shower room with a shower over would have been better and would have allowed a tv snug to be made just off the bedroom. Very clean with a huge comfortable bed.
