Great for couples or groups

Winter blizzard weather kept us from traveling east so we decided to hole up in a fun town. We found this hotel close to restaurants, the mall & the Clark Planetarium. Rooms were good sized, everything was clean, the sheets were comfortable and the bed was on the firmer side (no sagging ) and comfortable for most types of sleepers. Room had a mini-fridge, (i think a microwave too) a good sized closet and a separate toilet-shower area from the sink. The breakfast area has comfortable seating and a long bar-style peninsula with handy USB ports for charging your electronics as you work. The best thing about the hotel was the staff at the front desk. Lola and the other women I encountered were warm, welcoming and professional. They exemplified a spirit of hospitality that’s missing in other hotels. I commend Hola Hikila for hiring the right people for the job. The only negative is that the guest laundry needs some work. One washer had an out of order sign on it and the other one needs to be cleaned up. The dryers need to have the lint screens replaced. This was the only area I found to be lacking. Thanks for the chocolate chip cookies, too!

Not the standard I expected from a Marriott brand.

I expected more from a Marriott branded property. Many things were broken in the room. Even when I asked Housekeeping to come and fix it, they couldn’t. Breakfast was complete waste for all those who are vegetarian. I just can’t understand why Hotels don’t understand that Non-vegetarians can eat Vegetarian food but not vice-versa. So all in all not that great an experience. Only +ve was the staff at the reception were always very kind and went out of the way to help! Thanks to them.

Clean the carpet or put laminate

Always chose Marriott brands on the road. We were on road trip from Teton to home. Glad the hotel takes pets this is great. But please clean the carpets or better yet pull the carpets up and use something like laminate. Very gross.

Good location but not a good experience

The hotel was fine and the location is good, but would probably not stay there again. My gripes: - Paying for parking at a hotel like this just doesn't feel right. The area doesn't appear to be parking constrained - Still not serving any food for some reason. Can't understand why there is no breakfast available. Restaurants seem to be able to safely serve food, why can't the hotel. - Front desk personnel were polite but not helpful. We arrived at 3PM (which we indicated on our reservation and when checking in through the app) and they made little effort to get us into our room before the 4PM. It seemed like quite a stretch that there were zero rooms available at that time. Particularly given that they were not fully booked. They had every excuse - housekeeping won't answer, we're short staffed, etc. - Basic things like getting feather-free pillows (again, in my reservation) proved difficult. We had to go to the desk to pick them up and even when we did they weren't feather free?!?! Not asking for much, just basic competence and helpfulness - This was the first time I have ever checked into a hotel and found earplugs on the nightstands. Seemed weird, until we heard the noise at night. I have no idea what was going on above us, but it seemed like equipment being dragged around overnight.

Had an unpleasant and restless stay.

The front desk staff was absent for long periods of time. The shampoo/conditioner dispenser wan't refilled prior to our stay, & can't be removed to squeeze out the last drops. The key cards kept deactivating. The grab-n-go breakfasts were varied from day to day - sometimes there would be fruit, sometimes a muffin, but not always. One day I saw the bananas on the counter & asked why there was no fruit in the breakfast bag, & was told that the fruit was not included, but the next day, it was. The housekeeping staff can't come in daily due to COVID, but they didn't pick up the trash set outside of our door for 24+ hours, twice. The worst part of our stay was the terrible noise from above our room (#256). Not typical footsteps from above. I thought there was maybe a laundry service or housekeeping area above me. It sounded like someone was dropping & rolling heavy objects on the floor. The noises started at 5 am, but on our 3rd day it started at 3 am. The front desk assured me that the previous guests had checked out, but the next guests kept the same hours & made the same noises as the previous guests. I had to call the front desk and complain about the noise. I can only say that at the very least, there is improper or inadequate insulation between the floors. I did not sleep well for 3 nights. With so many options for hotels in Salt Lake City, I will certainly not be choosing this one again.
