Comfortable, Good Option

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights in late September, ‘21. It is an attractively restored hacienda-style B&B about 3 blocks from the main square. The rooms are arranged around a pleasant courtyard with a fountain, and part of the structure has a second floor. Our room (the Jaguar) was a ground-floor room on the street side of the hacienda. There was some noise from the street that came through the bathroom window, but it was tolerable. The room was entered through windowed double doors, which provided the only outside light other than a small bathroom window. It was very attractively decorated in colonial style, with a high ceiling, a fireplace that now houses an a.c. unit, and a small sitting area with tv and two unholstered chairs with a small table. There was a comfortable king bed with two nightstands. The bathroom was large and very attractive, with a huge walk-in shower and plenty of counter space. It was a bit dark, however, and could use more light above the vanity. Also, we had trouble with the antique door that, while rustic and attractive, was difficult to keep closed. A third problem was that it took a very long time to get hot water, probably because there were no other guests and the source was some distance away. Internet was strong in the room itself, but dropped a short distance away. Breakfast was in an attractive dining room along one side of the courtyard. There was a choice of dishes, accompanied by fresh fruit and juice. The food was very good. On two of the mornings during our stay the resident cat kept us company, a definite bonus for us since we are cat lovers. If you’re not, don’t worry – it was friendly but not a pest and did not beg for food. All in all, we enjoyed our stay here and found it to be a good option for Cholula.

You’d never know looking at it from the outside that the inside is a regal historic building. I like the grounds, the landscape, the breakfast room with its great contemporary paintings (by the way they no longer serve dinner which is a good reason to furnish the room with a mini fridge) and the multi tasking staff. Receptionist doubles as waiter at breakfast. And Christmas tree trimmer in the afternoon. Speaking of breakfast for those of us who do not like to eat eggs every day no matter how they are cooked, there are no other choices. Granola with yogurt anyone? Other juices besides orange? The Rabbit room was spacious for a single occupant with two lovely niches that could be vastly improved by proper lighting. As it is one of them has a writing desk that is unusable because there is only one source of lighting about 30 ft up on the ceiling which cast big shadows on the desk. A table lamp would solve that problem. Another useful decorating tip: switch the mirror to the other niche (where the coffee pot is so that it reflects the natural light from the window as the room is on the dark side). I had trouble using the safe box. The key got stuck every time and had to wrestle to get it open. I could have used a tissue box ( plenty of runny noses in the world in the morning) and what is with the smallest waste basket in the world (aluminum, sharp points and edges)? Lastly the stains on the upper wall do not spell boutique to me. Upkeep is everything. Many thanks to Mr. Pozos and his colleagues. They were all so profesional and courteous that I would consider going back.

Good time in Cholula

Better a late review than no review. We stayed here in May to attend a wedding. I will start by saying we usually stay in all inclusive at a beach destination so this was very different for us. We made arrangements directly with the hotel for transportation to and from the airport which worked out great. The driver even stopped at a store so I could buy some water and other things. The staff Jaime and Estanislao at the hotel were really friendly and very helpful. We speak very little spanish and they spoke very little English but we managed quite well. They assisted us with any information and directions we needed. Estan even directed us to a store that made great sandwiches which we ate in our room. We at breakfast every morning at the hotel. It was a reasonable price for the amount you received. Juice, fruit, fresh bread several differently types, then the main meal of which we mostly stuck to what we were used to but there was plenty to choose from, and great coffee, As much as you wanted. The hotel court yard, library, bedroom and everything there was exactly as the photos on their site show. We were offered an upgrade for a fee but did not really need any more space. About the only thing I missed is not having a mini fridge in the room. Not a big deal we adjusted to it. As another reviewer said there is a charge for additional coffee for your room but if you go knowing this it is ok. They have a portable air conditioner in the room which when we tried it it made a lot of loud noise so we stuck to the fan in the room. Even the TV had plenty of English channels if that is what you like. We were more interested in seeing the town of Cholula because we were not there for very long. We walked everywhere and felt very safe. It is a great location for visiting the various historical sites. Do not think twice book this place.

An oasis of peace and tranquility

This hotel, with only 7 rooms and a presidential suite is a gem. In fact, I am reluctant to write about it because it is so special I am hoping it doesn't get overcrowded. From the first few minutes we were in the hotel, we felt a peace descend upon us. Because it is so small there is little or no noise except the birds chirping and water of the fountain in the central patio. Although it is a small boutique hotel it has every amenity-- it has a wonderful restaurant; we tasted many plates and all were good or excellent. It has a spa and a wonderful massuese, Olivia. It has a spectacular library; ask to see it. All prices are moderate and I guarantee you will feel spoiled. After 3 days we returned to our regular routine renewed. It is walking distance from the zócalo and many shops and restaurants (if you decide to leave the hotel at all) and Cholula is one of the most charming cities in all México. Plus it is home to the world's largest pyramid. We are certain to return again and again.

Spent 2 nights in this lovely hotel. The service was impeccable, the rooms clean, comfortable and quiet. My friend and I enjoyed the patio with it’s flowers and fountain. The breakfasts/ food are beautifully prepared and presented. Our host made us a pot of fresh mint tea every day. Don’t miss checking out the renovations, original architectural details, photo album of the restoration, and the library. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Cholula & look forward to a return visit some time in the future.
