Special town, special host

We stayed here for 12 days from the end of September. We chose Scicli as we prefer the slow pace of smaller towns,. We are also fans of Inspector Montelbano, this is what bought our attention to Scicli initially. Massimo our host came to meet us at Catania airport and we had a very comfortable 90 mins drive to Scicli. I was rather daunted by the 82 steps up to our apartment,but I became used to them - and they probably did my fitness a big favour!! This was much more than a B and B room - as there was also a small room with excellent kitchen facilities..and a barbecue outside. The bed was really comfortable, the air conditioning worked well (it was needed even in October). An excellent cleaner came every other day to change the bed linen and towels. Breakfast was provided every morning at a nearby cafe, where we enjoyed various toasties,cakes and pastries and as a special treat the best almond granita and warm brioche we had during our holiday. Massimo our cheerful, kind hearted host was in regular contact to ensure that all was well. He took us to a car hire garage a few miles outside of town, arranged a super visit to a farm for a meal of their own produced ricotta cheese and meats, arranged an excellent guide - Roberto who brought the history of Scicli to life. All Massmios suggestions proved worthwhile. It really was like having your very own personal travel rep who knew everybody and everything about his town and the surrounding area.. Max è l host che tutti I viaggiatori vorrebbero incontare: puntuale e affidabile. Location centralissima e pulita. Si state viaggiando in zon, alla scoperta del territorio chiedete consiglio a Max è un vero esperto. Max the host was Terrific! I had such a greatest experience in southern ever. Very hood located the house is clean and cool. If you are looking for local experience in those area, let's touch Max for any suggestions about food and best beach and green place.

We stayed in October during our holiday in Sicily. The rooms very clean and spacious. The owner, Massimo, very friendly and efficient. The B&B is located in the centre in a beautiful old street. We had a very nice stay. Highly recommended.

The owner is indeed very friendly, the B&B is located in the center of Scicli, all you really need is present in the room, no traffic noise. But, this is all positive there is too say. This B&B has no charm at all, that's the main problem - when arriving, you should have phoned the owner, he probably isn't around and you have to phone him at that time. - the entrance: one has to climb really many steps on an old staircase, with your luggage. The higher you get, the more the houses are neglected. - the rooms of the B&B are located around a small patio, one table, some chairs, a BBQ and all to be shared by all B&B guests. Apart from the neglected houses, no nice views at all. - our room has one small window in a corner. It doesn't give the impression the room has some view. And, yes, the view is not nice either. We would never want to stay a whole day in such a room if fro example it rains. - When selecting a hotel, I asked for "free parking", B&B Scicli was still selected. But, there are almost not free parking spots. The owner can try to block some (for example with his own car), but, what if use your car during the day? Will you still find a free spot? - Breakfast is also included. But, it is served in a cafe, and you then get a "cafe style" breakfast, no buffet. We got a cup of coffee, some water, croissants, a croque monsieur, an apple and a pear. I'm convinced the cafe does its best, but you have no choice to select for example healthy things. We are surprized that all comments one reads are positive, we simply can't believe all guests find it perfect. Did friends and family help writing those? The B&B is not even very cheap, if the price would be cut in half, yes, then you'd get what you paid for. The photo's shown on its website, and on Tripadvisor are all much more beautiful than what you see in practice. For example: the one with the BBQ: looks nice. But, it doesn't show the neglected houses you see when turning 180 degrees. If you like staying in a neglected, charmless street, then this B&B is what you want. Else, pay 15% more like we did for a good, modern, business style hotel in Modica. Our room there was really very big, modern. Real free parking in front of the hotel and the included breakfast was in buffet form with lots of choices.

Massimo is really THE BEST host I’ve ever met. Every advice on the local restaurant he gave us was gorgeous. He takes care of EVERYTHING and is a real professional in what he does. The apartment is perfectly located - right in the center of Scicli. You will find all you need in the apartment - starting from the standard things like dishes and shower supplies up to the house shoes and traditional Sicilian pastries. Yummy! Dear Massimo, GRAZIE MILLE for your hospitality and see you next time again!
