A nice and comfortable hotel in the outskirts

This is a relatively basic, but pretty comfortable hotel, completely in German minimalistic, but ergonomic style. Warm, very nice beds, bathroom is OK, comfortable chair and desk, great wifi. Carpets need replacing, but are actually clean, just look a bit overused. Location is also convenient - 5 minutes walking from an U-Bahn station, which takes you directly to the city centre in about 20 minutes. Not so convenient from the airport, because you have to change a few means of transport, but still under 30 minutes away from it - even though it's actually very close to it geographically. The only minor flaws I found were in customer service - but they came from one and the same receptionist, so maybe I just wasn't lucky. First, this person didn't even know about the StuttCard (a special museum and public transport card for tourists) that the hotel advertises to be offering in their website. And second, at check-out he told me I "only" have to pay for the breakfast for 3 days (that I didn't have even once). After I insisted that I haven't had it at all, he said "OK". Strange, isn't it? If somebody else used my room number, he should at least tell me that was the case, check my signature, and decide then. But just "OK"? Very suspicious. Not German at all.

Average & clean ...

This hotel is located in a business/industrial area close to the main highway A8, the Exhibition & Trade Center and the airport and has a close-by S-Bahn stop with trains to downtown Stuttgart. Hotel is quite, clean and personnel very nice. The hotel garage however offers very narrow parking spaces.

Good hotel

Stayed two nights. The room was comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was very nice. The elevators were good-sized and I never had to wait too long. The staff was helpful and friendly. Negatives: the room key was actually a key, and it required a real wrist-breaking turn to get it unlocked. There was also no secondary lock inside the door. The U-bahn station was really close, but because the area is built-up with office buildings, to get to the train required a rather circuitous walk around the block.

Very good

We stayed for one night and it was very good. The room was clean and we had a huge bed. WiFi is good. We had 3 botles of water in the room for no extra charge and free coffee in the morning. Parking available onsite for extra charge or free on the street. This is a good hotel for business trips, as there are many offices in the area.

Saved By Breakfast, But Not Really

I was very disappointed with this hotel for the price I paid. I would have felt better if I’d only paid 60€ a night, but not 104€. The ONLY good thing about this hotel was the breakfast buffet we paid for, with both hot and cold options. The old-fashioned key for the room was charming, but there were no extra locks on the door at all and I did not feel safe. The room was supposed to be non-smoking, but they clearly allow either because it reeked of stale cigarettes and there was even an ashtray and complimentary matches in the room, instead of the expected tea station. The water was hot, but the bathtub took too long to fill so shower… but it was broken. You had to hang on to a knob and pull it out but it still turned off every 20 seconds or so. I would have been more comfortable staying in a pop-up camper! We kept the window open all night but it was still too warm, and the extra pillows I had requested and needed for heartburn had to be scavenged, due to the hotel being “completely booked.” I’m also glad we packed our own toiletries because the “complimentary” ones were bolted to the wall and the dispensers weren’t even clean. We couldn’t wait to get out of there and would never stay there again. The only reason I chose it in the first place was its location juxtaposition close to both a metro stop and the Stuttgart Messe convention center. I will not stay here again, and will seriously reconsider before choosing any other branch of “Golden Leaf.”
