Hotel Excelente, atendimento de primeira, muito bem localizado, fiquei num apartamento de canto, de frente para o mar e para o Farol, muito linda vista, banheiro impecável, quarto grande, camas enormes, mesmo a de solteiro. Recomendo a quem for pra Durhan.
Great location but needs a ton of TLC
Being a Mackem myself, I love coming home and the location of the Grand for us was perfect. The staff were lovely and attentive, anything I asked of them (an extra pillow etc.) was done. We were slightly annoyed initially when given our room as it seemed miles away from the reception but we were very pleasantly surprised by the ample 'suite'we were given. The leisure facilities were great and useful on those rainy days! Now, the downside. The room windows let an enormous amount of draft in, luckily our radiators kept the cold at bay but they couldnt stop the wind from disturbing us throughout the night. The windows in the restaurant/bar have seen better days too which is a shame as it distracts from the lovely views. And finally, it may be a petty complaint but I wasnt aware that this hotel allowed pets? - our final night was horrific as a guest above us had left their dog in their room which howled until around 11pm (reception staff were helpful but not apologetic in this instance)

Stayed at The Grand for it's locality to property viewings in the area David on reception was fantastic, professional, helpful and friendly throughout our stay The room was great and had a great view over the seafront A great stay and exceptional value for money We were so impressed that we travelled back from Durham to The Grand for an extra day of house hunting Thank you to David on reception and the hotel for it's cleanliness and all round service
Upon staying at the hotel for one night, we where never told about the pool closing or the gym even with the virus going around. We had to find out for ourselves, with this we got offered no discount or any apologies. The guy at the counter wasn't very polite with any questions and shrugged them off. Poor visit at best. We did phone up prior to booking a day earlier, which they said everything was open as usual apart from the sauna.
Sad service, dry sandwiches - even drier cakes and something nasty on the top tier
Groupon voucher deal. Afternoon tea .... well the tea was really weak. The sandwiches were dry and dismal. The tiny scones had to be viewed through a microscope to be seen. The lemon bun things were stale. There was a slimy chemically beige thing and a limp pink and vivid green thing that we just didn't try. Sorry but it looked vile, and as we had tried and been thoroughly disappointed by everything we had tried to eat we decided to leave. On the plus side.... the view was very nice.
