We had a superior room, which I would highly recommend. We had a lovely large room with a separate lounge area, spacious bathroom & bedroom and small balcony. We had tea & coffee making facilities, (although I had to beg some milk from the bar!), plus a fridge with complimentary drinks. Our superior room also meant we got free beach towels plus meant we could use the (outdoor) spa pool, this was amazing! It was so quiet, with the wonderful Valentina patrolling every day, making sure we were well looked after. We also dined at the Aretusa restaurant, with drinks included at dinner. The food is incredible, very pasta focused which suited us just fine. Plenty of choice, lovely fresh fish cooked on the grill, lovely choice of starters. In the Aretusa there is also a menu of the day which you can order from, which offers something a bit different. The hotel has a beach, but we weren’t keen as there were a lot of hawkers walking around, plus it was quite noisy with music playing. We did like the sea platform with the steps directly into the sea. This hotel is very Italian, with lots of Italian guests and very few other nationalities which we really liked. The entertainment is also Italian, which was just fabulous! The hotel is remote, you cannot walk out and get a bus, but the hotel puts on a coach to Syracuse / Ortigia every morning & afternoon. We would highly recommend this hotel for a traditional Italian experience.
Don't expect the employees to speak English, this is an Italian hotel for Italians. However, the facilities were very nice, not sure we would rate it a 4 star resort but as we took it as a last minute deal, it was good. Would definitely recommend renting a car, parking is very good and the resort is located a good drive from everything.
Lovely people and very friendly staff. The hotel was very dated and was in need of modernisation. Some of the paths were a bit rustic so don't wear heals.Lots of plastic furniture. I would rate it as a 3* as self service and food mainly at meal times. Quite remote but lovely well kept gardens. Beach very overcrowded. Syracuse was a welcome trip as lots to see, a beautiful church and really nice town to amble about.
Typical all inclusive resort
Manage your expectations: It is not a luxury resort, although the prices are high. All inclusive comes with the price of having to deal with all the mass of persons/families/kids that are around. The food variety is good and the quality too. They have different dishes, particularly from Sicily/Italy. The highlight (if you have kids) is the "train" that can get you to the beach, the kids will love it. The swimming pools can be quite busy and noisy. Unfortunately you will need a car/taxi to get around, should you wish to visit Syracuse.
