Very nice visit

We spent a night here earlier this week. The hotel has a great atmosphere, a convenient location, and the staff was very helpful. It was an easy walk to the plaza. Tapalpa looks to be very health conscious right now. I sat on the plaza for a while and I estimate 90% masks and people being very careful. It is a clean village and it was a very nice visit.

Two blocks from the main plaza and definitely worth the visit. The hotel is built of pine and has a bit of a lodge-like feel. Lovely furnishings;some antiques. Our room had a fireplace which we enjoyed on a cool February evening. Thoughtful amenities included bathrobes, slippers, in-room coffee, hairdryer, lighted magnifying mirror, shower cap in addition to soaps, shampoo and conditioner, flat screen TV, breakfast, and complimentary split of wine and tasty candies. King bed had nice quality linens. Big shower with glass doors and lots of hot water. Friendly staff. We were very pleased and pleasantly surprised by Casona de Manzano.
Excelent Stay in Tapalpa!

Staying at Hotel Casona del Manzano adds up to your Tapalpa experience. The hotel is beautiful, very well decorated, it takes you back in time. The breakfast is just fantastic with typical dishes. A great weekend getaway a few hours from Guadalajara.
Rustic heart of Jalisco

My partner and I had a wonderful visit to Tapalpa in August that was even more special due to Casona de Manzano and owner doña Irma, with whom we had a great time charting over breakfast. The place feels like home. You are made to feel comfortable. You feel as if you have stepped back in time: the hotel has retained details of the rustic charm of colonial pueblo architecture. There was a chimney in our room (though we didn't need it in summer). The air feels crisp here in the highlands. You wake up and walk downstairs to breakfast, which is quite good. I recommend the tamales de acelga (Swiss chard). One tip: wifi works best in the common areas; we found the best reception outside of our bedroom in one of the comfy couches overlooking the patio.
A cozy corner in Tapalpa

Tapalpa is a town that reminds you instantly the old Mexico. With its stone pavement streets, narrow alleys and the huge church in the center of the town.
To keep this charm during your vacations in this beautiful town there is nothing better than the Hostal Casona de Manzano.
The building used to be the house of the Manzano family. After being restored under the supervision of the INAH (Nation Institute of Anthropology and History by its Spanish acronym) the house acquired its old beauty.
The hostel has 9 gorgeous suites, equipped with an ecological chimney for the cold mornings. It is located very near to downtown, so you just need to walk a few blocks to enjoy Tapalpa's food and hospitality.
All of the spaces resemble the old hacienda the hostel was, inviting you to sit and relax, have little silence time by yourself.
The food is also great. Breakfasts are cooked at the moment, so everything is fresh and hot when served. They have chilaquiles, gorditas, champurrado, tamales, orange juice, coffee, fruit with honey, everything is just delicious. Now if you just want to try something different, you just go out and walk to downtown where you can find more typical restaurants.
It is a very recommendable place, you will find it quite and beautiful.
