We where booked in for 3nights we left after two nights . They did refund the upgrades of two rooms we had so credit to them . Reception area is not four star 2 stay at best The rooms the villas all need lots of work done to them flooring is concrete with white paint that us peeling up marks all over the place. Sockets dont work fans don't work The villas they use plastic cover to fix leaks on wooden roof dont work . Tissue put in holes. Hot water power of water very little pressure. Breakfast cold and not good you have to pre order your food . The whole place is run down . The other restaurant is closed needs repair they won't bring drinks or food to the beach for you . Cant understand why dont they want to make money . The only saving grace the staff are nice and friendly . Please don't look at agoda or booking.com pic misleading if in uk or Europe they would be sued this hotel has great location but needs money spent on it to put it right would i return no way its terrible . 4.5 stars more like 2 star unfortunately.
2 night trip
Pros: •Service was 10/10 staff were so friendly •pick up from pier •welcome drink and presentation was very nice and thorough. They also had info in booklet in room. I would highly recommend reading!!! •room (hut) was lovely. High ceiling, nice bed, spacious, bathroom was large and even had an outside bathtub. •hotel was very well kept, clean, quiet and perfect for relaxing • food was some of the best we had in all of SE asia! •beach was beautiful, perfect spot for watching sunset. There wasn’t many people on the beach either Cons: • hotel pretty far from other places to see on island, so if you want to get out you need to rent bike or driver which they do offer. •at night it felt like the place was lacking atmosphere very very quiet. •because you can’t just walk to another bar or restaurant we found the food and drink very expensive not just expensive for Thailand like €40 per bottle of wine. We were happy to pay as we were on holidays but good to know! • area at beach doesn’t have to many places to sunbathe and the beds are more like bean bags. • we had a bat caught in between roof and hut and it did take a long time to get anything done about it, we had to ring reception a few times. they moved us to another room which was fine by us. Overall enjoyed my time here, I would recommend this place if you want a few days of quiet.
not quite 4 stars
stayed here middle feb 2020 with my husband . Staff very nice and especially a gentleman called mark who would do anything for you. Rooms and hotel could do with an update and paint as a bit shabby for a 4*. Not suitable for anybody with mobility problems. Food was very average but not being replaced when it ran out. You had to continually ask staff to replace items. Not much fresh fruit. Pool needed to be cleaned out a bit more. Not enough sunbeds, only 6 put out. Road getting there is not good and very bumpy, especially if you are in a scooter. Surely the money the hotel are making, they could pay to finish the concrete road. Cant fault the friendliness of the entire staff though. Atmosphere at night not good as most people ate out as drinks and meals in the bar on the beach very expensive. If they reduced this, more people would stay and have a meal. Still I enjoyed my 9 days i stayed there.
Trying to find the positives
Cham’s House, Koh Kood We had a three day stay here in Feb 2020 in a “Superior Ocean View” room. For context, the resort has small circular villas, some with attached plunge pools, and a multi-storied block of regular rooms, some also with mini plunge pools. The site runs down a steep block to a pleasant, palm fringed beach. There are no other significant resorts along the beach, although there is one other restaurant attached to some basic beach huts next door. Positives. Rooms are a decent size/drying rack on the verandah/nice view. Sorry folks that’s all. Negatives. The resort is totally neglected and run down. Beach furniture is broken, torn or mouldy, with insufficient and old towels. No one tidies up around the beach, so the tables are left dirty from the previous day, ashtrays still full. There was lots of plastic rubbish washed onto the beach but no staff thought to tidy it up. A few patrons, me included, did. The gardens are overgrown and totally neglected, which is a pity as you can see that it has been well planned out. At the beach end is a poorly maintained restaurant/bar where the paving has not been done so at dinner, after you have showered and changed after a day in the sun, you sit with tables sinking into the sand. It’s a perfect location but a bit of decking and a few plants would make it sublime. Access to the resort is via a half made, rutted track to an entrance where you are directed to walk up 30 steep stairs. No allowance has been made for travelling with suitcases/bags, although the staff did carry them for us. (I actually found the ramp as we were checking out). Access to the “block” rooms is up and down some serious steps, an impossibility for people with bad knees or for parents with small children. On the top floor, the balustrades are seriously wobbly and an accident waiting to happen. And I mean seriously! On the balconies, bits of chipboard of uneven sizes covers some of the overly wide gaps but doesn’t hide the worn, paint-spattered furniture. And there are paint spatters everywhere, plus unfinished paving and overflowing bins. This is particularly apparent in the foyer toilets. Not good! The roofs of some of the villas are covered in plastic - also not a good sign. The pool is at the top of the block, at the opposite end to the beach, with just a few seats and 3 umbrellas. Unsurprisingly, few people used it except on the day of a power outage (from 9am to 4pm, which management advised us of only the night before). On that day, people used it to wash off the sand as no power meant no water pumps so no water. No food was available at that time as well. Management made no attempt to offer compensation, a round of free drinks or anything to offset the “inconvenience”. The breakfast is spread over the foyer and a verandah area, with a large bowl of yoghurt left in full sunlight. All the jams/honey etc are equally uncovered and were being swarmed by ants on our first day here. It is poorly run, plates left on empty tables and with no logical flow. Choices are mediocre. Staff are untrained which is not their fault, but the resort is clearly not being managed in any functional way. Some staff would therefore just sit, playing on their phones, even when the towels had all be used at the beach or dirty plates were left on tables. And what is the purpose of a shop if it has virtually no stock? The internet was also flaky! The beach shack restaurant next door served great meals at half the price to most of the hotel patrons, in particular during the power outage. They had a gas bottle! Having just come from Koh Chang where we stayed in a comparable resort price wise, this was like night and day. As regular visitors to Thailand and SE Asia for many years, this is truly one of the worst resorts we have ever stayed in. Finally, a big shout out to the resort cat though. At least it was doing its job keeping the mice population down.
