Close to beaches and restaurants

Perfect location in between the beaches and town. A quiet hotel with breakfast available. It was easy for us to park our car there & it was free of charge. Bed was slightly uncomfortable & the walls were very thin allowing us to hear all noises from the neighbours. Overall a happy stay.

Quiet hotel in a lovely area

We were upgraded to a cottage upon arrival, which was very nice and quiet. The kitchen area was ample for simple meals and the little patio was nice to have for relaxing. The bed was a bit hard, but we discovered that most hotels that we stayed at on Sardinia have the same problem. We stayed for 4 days and during that time the room was cleaned once, which we didn't mind, but might bother others. Breakfast is basic, but the coffee is great! Dinner isn't served at the hotel, but there are plenty of places to eat in Villasimius, which is about a 15 minute walk (a lovely little town). The beach is also about a 10 minute walk (depending on how energetic you are) and is very lovely. After seeing the prices of the beach chairs and sunbrellas elsewhere on the beach, we really appreciated the reserved section for Palm Village including free chairs and shade. The whole area is very child-friendly as the water is very shallow near the shore. We chose to drive our car to the beach and pay 3 Euros (in September) for the day which could be used at other beaches in the area as well (worth checking out!) We would like to thank Silvia and Jelena for there warm hospitality and useful tips! We could imagine coming back to stay again, especially in the cottage!

DO NOT STAY HERE!

One might be mistaken for thinking that the Palm Village Hotel, is in fact a hotel. Don’t let the advertising deceive you. The management at Palm Village like to refer to this downtrodden hell hole as a ‘residence’ and not a hotel, despite its name. If you are expecting the simple things in life, such as toilet roll, wifi (as advertised) common decency and hospitality from staff, regular cleaning of your room, a fresh breakfast, a decent nights sleep…FORGET ABOUT IT. Three major issues blighted our stay more than any other. On only our second night, my friend and I could be forgiven for thinking we were in some sort of horrendous adaptation of a Stephen King novel. Since being kept up for an entire night, we were left traumatised by the noise of domestic abuse happening in the next apartment to us. A large man with a bellowing and threatening voice was shouting at his female partner, and we feared for the woman’s life and our own safety. With nowhere to turn and unable to leave our room, we called reception only to be met with a voicemail with no emergency number at the end of the line. We then proceeded to call the local police ourselves and had to sneak out of our hotel room, past our neighbour’s room, to wait on a dimly lit corner for the police car to arrive. The police officer then knocked on our neighbours’ door and spoke with them for some time. The following day, we met with the hotel manager and the receptionist, who were very patronising. It was not a surprise to learn that the man and his partner had checked out in the early hours. Neither the manager nor the receptionist seemed concerned with the woman’s safety and well-being whatsoever but seemed surprised that they had not heard themselves from the local police, and claimed to know the local Carabinieri personally. The management did not give us any reassurance that they would follow-up with the police and did not express any kind of regret that we had become necessarily involved in an incident between two of their other guests. The second issue was the lack of wifi. My business has been negatively impacted as a direct result of the absence of any consistent wifi over our 6 day long stay. As a result, I stand to lose thousands of pounds worth of business in the long term. Lastly, on 2 occasions we left our ‘residence’ with the door locked securely (we had our valuables inside). The cleaning staff came in with the odd clean towel but then left the door open, so anyone could have walked right in! Do I recommend this place? Not in my life time. STEER CLEAR!
