Great location for traveling with dog
Avaliou em 11 de Outubro de 2021
The Kimpton Banneker is in a great location to explore DuPont Circle. Grass to walk the dog (less than 5 minutes from entrance), cafes, etc. are a short walk. We valeted for $50 a night with in/out privileges. The car was delivered promptly each time. SpotHero parking nearby would have been total $60 for two nights, but no in/out, which we needed. There are only a few spots to park out front for drop off, so you may need to circle the building. The hotel is very clean and the front desk people friendly and fun. Check in was quick. We did experience elevator wait time. On the 8th floor, our view was backs of buildings. This didn’t bother us. The room is quite large and could have fit a couch, which would have been nice. Super-clean & plenty of storage for the 4 of us (husband and I and 2 kids ages 18 and 16) and the dog. More outlets/USB, especially by nightstand, would have been nice. Great ac and blackout shades. Why curtain only cover part of window?? Large bathroom. The one panel of glass made for a partially wet bathroom after showers. Hot water was limited. Good amount of bathroom storage space. The hallways smelled like brand-new rug, which was nice. The decor here did not rank in my top 5 for Kimpton Funk Factor- too minimalist for me. But, the mattresses were super comfortable so I’ll forgive them for not designing the place for my taste. Ha. Husband said lobby coffee was fine. We didn’t eat at restaurant. We slept soundly- no noise from neighbors. I knocked off a bubble rating because upon checkout, the computer was broken and I was told receipt would be emailed. It was not. I called later that night to request; the phone people were not nearly as nice as in person. Email never sent. I called the next morning. Man said he would send email ASAP. Never got it. Called a 3rd time. Dionne was very nice. Sent email. I stayed on phone with her until it arrived seconds later. Also, we requested maid service. We returned to room after a long day out. No service. Called front desk. Man confirmed we were on list. Said he’d call back. Never did. Had to call again for towel delivery. Stingy with towels. Aside from a few blips, we liked and would stay again if traveling with dog. If no dog, we’d try somewhere else. Just remembered: no dog amenities offered. Bring your own.
Attractive rooms, disappointing service

I was excited to say at this new Kimpton & pleased to find a comfortable, stylish room. Extra space & couch in the premium king were worth paying a little more for, I think. Noise from street traffic was quite loud. Most disappointing, especially given how much I've come to appreciate the Kimpton brand, was the service. We were given a room with a malfunctioning lock. No coffee maker in the room (though they offered to send one up) & no coffee available in the lobby or at the restaurant. There was very little in the way of consumables/supplies in the room. Instead, signage indicated that if we forgot listed items, the front desk could provide. We asked to borrow one of the listed items - a phone charger - & were told they didn't carry iPhone chargers. The front desk seemed to be a hang out spot for staff of the hotel and restaurant both. Speaking of the restaurant, I'd avoid it for now. We had a pretty terrible experience - waited 30 mins for cocktails, which were not very good (at $18 each, & which we were told would be comped due to the excessive wait, but they were not)...waited for lord knows how long for dessert menus and finally asked someone other than our waiter to bring...& more excessive waits in paying the bill. Food was just okay, lighting is too bright/harsh. Perhaps as the staff settles in things will improve. For now, though, I'm likely to book elsewhere.
Perfect Labor Day Escape

The Kimpton Banneker Hotel is stylish AND extremely comfortable and welcoming. The whole staff went above and beyond at every interaction to make us feel at home. Our King room was perfection itself--the most chic design, every detail was aesthetically on point. Generous amenities--I especially appreciated the USB rechargeable wireless lighted makeup mirror and clothing steamer. The bed was truly amazingly cushy and comfortable--it was hard to tear ourselves out of the room to go have fun in the city. I even went so far as to find out the specific pillows they have so I can try to replicate Banneker-level-sleep at home. Le Sel (the restaurant) is also beautifully designed, and the food and drinks were very tasty (we got a grilled peach salad, roasted prawns in some sort of magical sauce, the filet with broccolini, and a few perfect cocktails). Location was fantastic for us--walkable food, fun, and sights in every direction. We can't wait to visit again soon--hopefully once the rooftop bar is open!
Beautiful hotel and great location!

Truly enjoyed my stay! Hotel was well kept. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms were beautiful and well designed. The staff at the restaurant Le Sel were also wonderful. Looking forward to the rooftop bar Lady Bird to open soon. The decor there was beautiful with gorgeous views. Would highly recommend staying here!
