Calm, peaceful, friendly staff.
An old monastry which has been converted to a small hostal/hotel. Beautiful central courtyard with cloisters around it. Rooms are basic, but clean and adequate with en-suite facilities. Views of the surrounding hillside and olive trees are wonderful. Breakfast is continental, but good. Staff are very friendly and can advise on places to see. Streets are very narrow, but passable with care ! We thought the town had a very peaceful and calm feeling ...... all of the locals were very friendly and welcoming. Wi-fi worked well, even in the room. Excellent value for money and we would recommend this Hospederia to anyone.
We got a little lost (don't follow Google maps!). We phoned the hotel and without hesitation, Isabel came to guide us to it. We had had to queue for a ridiculous length of time to get our car at Granada airport, so it was getting dark when we arrived near our destination. There was also a fiesta in progress, and extra cars had parked in the narrow streets, making our progress in the failing light very difficult. Thank you Isabel for rescuing us! Our room was clean and spacious and the breakfasts were self-service continental. You could eat as much or as little as you liked. The choice of cereal could be better as neither of us are fans of Cornflakes or Coco Pops. A muesli or granola option would be nice. Having said that, we could come and go as we pleased. The position was great for us to explore Priego de Cordoba, and if you have a car, it is well worth the 5 Euros per night for security. We would certainly stay there again. It is a peaceful environment, and the staff were all lovely.
Peaceful basic accom
Stayed one night. Our room was spacious and clean, nice shower room and blinds kept room cool. The place still had a very catholic feel to it and the staff are not around 24/7 but everyone we saw was super friendly. Needed to leave early so didn't have breakfast.
Different accommodation twist with lots of history
Hospederia San Francisco used to be a Franciscan Monastery and then textile factory. Finally it was recently refurbished and turned into a very picturesque hotel. The location is really spectacular, with beautiful views from the rooms. Our room was called Bella Vista and it definitely delivered on the promise. In terms of the hotel itself, it offers basic amenities: you have your bed, a TV, wardrobe, shower and breakfast. The internet is not very fast so don't book it as a business hotel. This is not a luxury hotel so if you are after luxury, stay somewhere else. What attracted us to the hotel was the history, the views and the friendliness of staff. We found what we were looking for and the value of money was great. Breakfast was very basic but tasty. Hotel staff were friendly and willing to help. We would recommend to explore the Iglesia de San Francisco next door- amazing beauty and you can not miss it as it is literally next door. We were very lucky to see the procession for Corpus Christi, experience lottery organized by the church and the inhabitants and try some of the finest foods. Olive oil is to die for! Food is pricey but tasty. Getting there by car is quite tricky. If you use hotel's parking, it'll cost you €5 per night. Driving was fun as the streets were narrow and the main street leading to the hotel was closed so we needed to park and walk with the suitcases. Thankfully the city is small so it wasn't too long of a walk.
A Hotel with a difference
We stayed 2 nights. The room was basic, but perfectly adequate. Spotlessly clean, very attentive staff, car parking available for 5 euro per night. Free herbal teas available at all times. Wi-fi could be temperamental, but worked most of the time. Air conditioning in room. Shower gel and soap in bathroom. Clean towels daily. Basic but adequate breakfast. Requested extra pillows and they were brought immediately. The building is beautiful and views from our bedroom window (room 9) were lovely. Double glazed windows ensured that any street noise (there was some building work at the back) was not heard. We were very happy with our stay for the price we paid.
