Beautiful place and lovely staff
We stayed for 4 days and we really enjoyed our holiday. Staff always kind and professional, very good food and beautiful beach. We could stay only for few days and because the resort is very close to the airport, we could reach it in 15 minutes by the hotel' transfer and we avoided wasting time. So handy. Looking forward to go back there next year 😍
Perfect for the right family
This is a large resort that is still in the midst of off-season renovations. We stayed for several days as part of a small group. Our group leaders were fluent in Italian; the rest of us were not, but did not feel it was a problem. The staff are friendly and accommodating; most speak passable English. The room (320) was very large and clean, well air conditioned, with large bathroom with bidet and good water pressure. The terrace tiles need replacing, and although we had a nice sea view, directly underneath was a really dirty concrete roof. It did not spoil things for me, but might for another person. Clientele: The hotel was fully booked with extended Sicilian families. There were hundreds of children of all ages. There are no "adults only" areas as far as I could tell. Everyone was well behaved and all seemed really happy to be there. The beach was crowded bu nice, connected to hotel by underground tunnel. The signage should be better giving directions around the resort. The street along the beach is lined with restaurants if you wish to get some meals elsewhere. There are two pools, one at the sea side, one at the back, with beautiful views. The back one is scheduled to undergo renovation. Right now, there are no steps into that pool, just ladders. Plenty of areas to sunbathe with chaises. The back pool bar was really good, the front not so good. Food: The food at lunch and dinner was really good. Even if a particular dish does not LOOK good, try it anyway- it was all delicious, and a huge selection at lunch and dinner. The free wine was good. One night was " Sicilian " night- lots of music and fun. If you buy into the full board plan, you have your own reserved table every day for lunch and dinner. The breakfast was OK, but could be improved with a bigger selection, like include oatmeal and more meat , maybe an omelette station. Tons of eggplant and Octopus done every which way . The pasta dishes were amazing. We are New Yorkers, some native Italians and we all thought it was good. There is also an outdoor pizzeria that was very good. There is an excursion desk, taxis into Palermo, and plenty of family activities, plus a show every night. If you are an American family with small children wanting to relax at the beach for a few days before hitting smaller hotels elsewhere in Sicily, don't hesitate, your kids will have fun here. I only have one WARNING: The noise level here is VERY HIGH,all over, but especially in the dining room. If anyone in your party is hard of hearing or on the spectrum, or otherwise bothered by high noise level, do not stay here. The first day was startling. We eventually got used to the noise level and recognized the resort for what it is- a big family resort. It would however be really good if the renovations could include dialing down the dining area noise. My only major complaint is - NO WIFI IN ROOMS. I am told they will be fixing that. My minor complaint is: Having to use "bar cards" which are indistinguishable from the room cards- you have to put money on the card and use it that way. You also have to show the card (not charged) in order to get water, beer, coffee or soda at lunch and dinner, It had to be explained to us more than once- we were just- "why?". All in all a great place and I would go back if I was with my extended family group with kids.
Better then expected!
We spend 3 nights here in july with 2 adults and 2 children! Great service from Monica at the front desk, wery helpfull! The staff is friendly but not many of them understands or speak english. Childrens club and nice hang-around areas. The music is abit loud but didn’t bother us much. Most of the guests had all-inclusive but we didn’t, a bit hard to find good restaurants close by! In all a great stay!
Number of issues to sort out
We spent 4 days in the hotel. I knew there was renovation works going on at the time of the booking, but I was informed that most of the work was finished already. When we arrived there were a number of workers still busy painting, drilling the walls, so the renovation is still full on. The reception desk is not ready yet, the staff is sitting behind a table hidden under cables. I booked the free airport shuttle, and I was informed that it would be waiting for us at the airport terminal. However when we arrived, there was nobody there. After waiting 20 min I called the hotel. the first person who picked up the phone doesn't speak English, so she transferred me to somebody else. He kept me on hold for 5 min until he was checking the situation. When he got back to me he said that the shuttle is not at the airport (which I already knew), and I should wait. I asked when was the shuttle coming and he said he didn't know. I asked him what should I do then, and he hung up the phone. We waited another 10 minutes when I called back the hotel again, and they said that the shuttle was on the way already and was gonna arrive in 5 minutes. We waited another 30 minutes, and the shuttle finally arrived. The hotel was about 15 minutes from the airport, so it is hard to see how was the shuttle already on the way and arrived only 30 min later. The check in process was nice and easy. We got a room which had no balcony. I asked the receptionist to change rooms and get one with a balcony, which she said they had none, even though the hotel was basically empty at that stage. Anyway it's not all bad. The hotel grounds are very nice, they have a number of pools, heaps of sun loungers and a private beach area. The beach is very nice, the water is clear, what else would you need. The room was comfortable, the beds are large and firm. The bathroom is large, however the water in the shower wasn't going down the drain, so after having a shower the bathroom floor was flooded and the water kept going into the living area and even outside the door to the corridor. The walls are very thin, you can hear the neighbours and noises from outside. Basically every night there was a "road race" just outside of the hotel, so I couldn't sleep for 2 hours from the noise of the cars/bikes whatever it was. Last night it was very windy outside and the wind kept moving the door and the window, which was very noisy so I couldn't sleep. Generally the food is OK, however there is not much choice for coeliac or diabetic people. There is no sweetener to use only sugar, no dairy free milk, no gluten free options. On the first day there was a few gluten free biscuits, but not on the following days. There is no vegetables for breakfast at all. The local wine is free and delicious, highly recommended. Most of the food is cold at dinner what I didn't really understood why. The dinner starts quite late at 19:45, so most people would be there at the same time when the restaurant opens, which makes it very busy. There is no internet in the room, the only place you have wifi is around the reception area, but that didn't work most of the time either. I asked for an iron and I got it in a few minutes. Also I got beach towels very quickly when I asked. There is good evening entertainment, live music and dancing which we enjoyed. The entertainment staff is nice. Most of the staff speaks basic English only, so they are not really open to foreigners. There is a small gym, but you can do a good workout. The location is not great from the point of view that you can't go anywhere without a car. However if you are happy to spend the whole day in the hotel, at the pool or on the beach, it is perfect. All in all I was happy with the place, we had a few relaxing days, just what we needed. Maybe when the renovation is finished and they sort out the other issues (wifi, bathroom drain, improve food choices and quality) the place will be up to standards.
Maybe just the wrong time
I have read other reviews for this hotel. Our experience was quite different. We entered to a construction zone. Had this hotel been in the U.S., they would probably not be registering guests due to some unsafe conditions. I understand they were in the midst of making improvements and were working quickly to complete them but living in the midst of it all was difficult at times. And while our room was one that had been renovated, it was not finished. The heater for the room was not working nor was the TV until we called for help. The drain in the shower did not drain fast enough resulting in a lake on the bathroom floor or turning the volume of water down. The hole in the wall where the heat vent should have been was just an empty hole. And while we were there there were several groups of 40-50 young teenagers staying....not a problem until they were taking over the breakfast room, running through the hallways at late night hours and setting off fire crackers. This seemed to be some kind of end of the year school trips as they would come for several days and then leave and more would come. Not sure what they did during the day time but generally they left the property. I am sure when the renovations are complete and inspected to attend to the finishing touches and without the teenagers, we would have had a nice stay.
