On the way to a wedding
After driving about 8 hours we were exhausted and had to find a place to sleep. Since the 1st review was so negative we asked to see the room first It was large, clean, 2 beds, direct TV clean white tile bath, and a nice breakfast in the morning with cereal, coffee, pastries, bagels, toast, Friendly desk clerk at night & the morning Guess you can’t always go by the reviews unless you see it yourself. We were on 1st floor and parked our car right in front of our room door. Exactly what I wished for So I recommend this venue when traveling through Lamont & Monticello is 5 minutes away
A strong smell of mildew met me during check in.....I knew then that I wouldn't be eating breakfast. My room was clean but my other family members had complaints with their room. I would stay there again but as always I will have my cleaning supplies with me.
Sadly, there is no zero rating available
Even if you had never seen Hotel Impossible, this would set a new low standard. The only pros were that our room was reasonably clean, though the bed cover was old and creepy enough that we removed it and slept with just the white sheet. And the air conditioner worked. - Tried to call and confirm our reservation day of; took three tries (one was 25 rings) until someone finally answered, and that was only when we finally called the main Wyndham number. The local hotel did not answer. Period. - The mattress box springs were filthy. I mean, filthy. Stained with God knows what. - Floor carpet felt filthy to my bare feet, so I wore flip flops the whole time. I don't even want to speculate on what that carpet holds, except to say that the room, and carpet, stank. - Furniture looked like it came from the Salvation Army at best, and as an afterthought. - Sink had no cold running water. (Weird, eh?) - Door chain lock was broken, meaning anyone with a master key or even an old key card could have gotten in. (Yes, they're supposed to change them. No, they didn't. How do I know? We checked out, and returned a while later to pick up a forgotten item. Same key card.) - The beds (two) were the least comfortable we'd stayed in, and between us we've got over 100 years of regular hotel stays, for business and for pleasure. - In the morning, the "free breakfast" juice machine was broken. The front desk manager said it had "just broken" and they were coming that afternoon to replace it. Well, sorry, but the "Not working" sign was on the day before as well. When a guest asked whether the hotel could possibly buy some juice for the breakfast people, the manager gentleman said "You mean me? buy you juice?" -The breakfast consisted of a few packets of grits, some packets of oatmeal, hot water on demand - one coffee machine (cold), no decaf available. Certainly no apologies. - One look inside the open laundry room door while walking from the lobby to our room, and we decided to never stay there again - and that was before we'd experienced the room. Could we have asked for another room? Yes, checked two. Both had the same sorts of issues. Both stank. If I were Wyndham, I would cancel this hotel out. It gives the entire chain a bad name.
Wonderful Nights Sleep
We really enjoyed our stay here. Flo and Mark at the front are the sweetest people! Our stay was very pleasant and comfortable. Wonderful nights sleep. The staff is so sweet. We highly recommend this Days Inn! Thank you for making our stay amazing! Rick & Patricia
Roaches at frontdesk/breakfast area
Went to check in around 1230 at night, and an older guy checking me in was more concerned about charging me an extra $8 than taking care of the multiple roaches running around his feet. When i pointed out the roaches he acknowledged them and went back to adding in the $8. I then asked if breakfast was served by the front desk and he casually said yes. If you get a muffin with raisins be aware they are not raisins! Room stinks and looks run down. Stay somewhere else!
